La Slow Wine Fair 2024 is an international event organised at Bologna Fiere by the Slow Wine movement, which is part of the wider Slow Food organisation. From Sunday 24 February to Tuesday 27 February, the fair was a meeting point for wine producers, wine professionals and wine lovers who share the principles of the Slow Wine movement. During this occasion I tasted 64 wines, favouring the regions of Southern Italy, and in this article I report the 20 that I liked best... minus one that I will tell you about on another occasion because it will be a surprise!

What are Slow Food and Slow Wine?

As for the food...

Slow Food is an international non-profit organisation founded in Italy in 1986 by Carlo Petrini with the aim of promoting greater awareness of food and agriculture, advocating an approach to food that is good, clean and fair. Good in the sense of high quality and taste, clean for the environment and fair in terms of fair conditions and wages for producers. The organisation opposes the concept of fast food and the globalisation of the food sector, seeking to preserve local traditions, promote food biodiversity and support small-scale producers who adopt sustainable practices.

As for wine...

Slow Wine is a movement that was born within the Slow Food philosophy and is dedicated to the world of wine. Launched in 2010, it focuses on wines that are produced in harmony with the environment, that reflect the peculiarities of their territory of origin and that offer good quality in relation to price. The Slow Wine movement also publishes a guide that rates wineries on these principles, promoting wines that embody the values of sustainability, territorial identity and transparency in the production process.
